and SupergirlTheMovie.com

If visiting these locations please respect all property and

enjoy without trespassing or vandalism.

Enjoy the virtual tour!!

The Bank Robbery

Superman III

Superman III

Currently an RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) branch.

The shot of the robbers leaving the bank was looking North.

You can still see the two white buildings on the west side of the street (top photo).

Location:

Downtown Calgary, Alberta on 2nd Street SW, between 5th Ave and 6th Ave on the east side of the street.

Latitude: 51° 2'53.45"N

Longitude: 114° 4'3.43"W

--------------------

Clark Kent to Superman change in photo booth

Superman III

The boy in photo booth is Aaron Smolinski who was the baby Clark Kent in Superman The Movie.

The woman is Aaron's real mother.

Location:

Downtown Calgary, Alberta at the intersection of 6th Ave and 2nd Street SW, on the southwest corner,

just outside of the National Bank at 311 6 Ave SW

Latitude: 51° 2'50.75"N

Longitude: 114° 4'5.35"W

--------------------

Superman Rescues Drowning Man

Superman III

Aaron Smolinski's father can be seen behind the man in hard hat.

There is an actual fire hydrant just around the corner a bit, the one in the film was obviously a prop.

Location:

Downtown Calgary, Alberta at the intersection of 6th Ave and 2nd Street SW, on the northwest corner.

Latitude: 51° 2'51.79"N

Longitude: 114° 4'4.57"W

--------------------

The Chemical Plant Fire

Superman III

Superman III

The Turbo Refinery used for filming this scene was bought by a Russian vodka maker in 1998 and was to be relocated to Russia by Ventech Engineering International. Project was canceled but the purchaser moved the refinery himself.

The location currently appears to have new life as another plant or refinery.

Location:

Near Balzac, Alberta, just East of CrossIron Mills Shopping Centre

Latitude: 51°11'11.58"N

Longitude: 113°56'0.08"W

Turbo Refinery (relocation) - Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Smallville High School Exterior

Superman III

Superman III

The church seen in the beginning of the scene is the St Benedict Anglican Church, built in 1904.

Spitzee Elementary School serves as Clark’s former high school.

It was constructed in 1912 for twenty-five thousand dollars and is still in use.

It is not the same high school location used in Superman The Movie.

Location:

Spitzee Elementary School.  409 Macleod Trail SW, High River, Alberta

Latitude: 50°34'37.19"N

Longitude: 113°52'37.00"W

Gus Gorman Arrives in Smallville

Superman III

Superman III

The same brick buildings line the street with some minor changes over the years.

Across 3rd Avenue the same RBC branch exists with the visible blue sign that can be seen in the film.

Location:

Downtown High River, Alberta on 1st Street SW between 3rd and 4th Avenue SW.

Latitude: 50°34'46.96"N

Longitude: 113°52'20.01"W

Picnic/Superman Saves Ricky

Superman III

Superman III

A few years ago I spoke to the owner of the property where it was filmed. He informed me the culvert was put in by the production specifically for this scene and that each of the actors had their own HUGE bus to ride to location in. "I guess they couldn't ride together.” They also used his tool shed for make-up.

Location:

Just Northeast of Blackie, Alberta

Latitude: 50°36'41.16"N

Longitude: 113°36'20.57"W

The Wheatking Building Exterior

Superman III

Superman III

The Heritage Hotel was made over to become the Wheatking's Smallville offices.

The entrance is still quite similar with obvious renovations inside.

The staff had absolutely no idea that Superman III had filmed a scene there when I was looking around.

Location:

Heritage Inn Hotel & Convention Centre, 1104 11 Ave SE, High River, Alberta

Latitude: 50°34'21.78"N

Longitude:  113°50'59.48"W

The Smallville Celebration

Superman III

Superman III

Superman III

In the movie it appears to be a large town center, but it is just a parking lot between 2 buildings. Several of the grain elevators in the background have since burnt.

The former CPR train station (built between 1911 and 1912) in the background is currently the Museum of the Highwood and the rail car next to it is still in use as a cafe.

The current mural painted on the building on the south side of the lot depicts Jason Glass; a chuck wagon racer from High River. His family’s horses were used at the Kent farm during production of Superman The Movie.

Location:

Downtown High River, Alberta on 1st Street SW between 4th and 5th Avenue SW, in parking lot between old brick building (currently CIBC Bank) and neighbouring building always painted with murals (American Flag in Superman III).

Latitude: 50°34'44.27"N

Longitude: 113°52'21.32"W

Lana Lang's House

Superman III

Superman III

This is one of many historic homes in High River that survived recent floods.

It has a dirt floor basement and the upstairs were originally servant’s quarters with a bell.

Location:

High River, Alberta on 5th Street SE between at the end of 3rd Avenue (on east side of street).

Latitude: 50°34'46.44"N

Longitude: 113°51'31.61"W

--------------------

Bridge Truck Rescue

Superman III

Superman III

It’s a short walk down from the highway to the south side of the bridge where this scene was filmed. Other movies like Unforgiven and Interstellar had scenes also filmed in and around Longview.

Location:

South side of Longview, Alberta on Cowboy Trail/ Hwy. 22.

Latitude: 50°31'22.21"N

Longitude: 114°14'4.49"W

Drunk Superman At Bar

The St. Louis Hotel has a very colorful history in Calgary.

It was built in 1914 and “originally contained a bar, café, barbershop and cigar stand in addition to 60 hotel rooms”.

In 1959 it had extensive remodeling and the large illuminated sign was added to the front.

It can be spotted when riding the C-Train. Plans are for it to be remodeled soon with the exterior to remain intact, but the interior to be retail, restaurants and office space.

Location:

St. Louis Hotel, 403 8 Ave SE, Calgary, Alberta

Latitude: 51° 2'43.28"N

Longitude: 114° 3'14.14"W
